Jakarta: Commission III of the House of Representatives is advised to involve psychologists when holding fit and proper tests for candidates for leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) . The goal is to ensure that the candidates have the integrity required by the Anti-Corruption Agency.
“The DPR must involve psychologists to ensure that these people have good integrity,” said the Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman to Metrotvnews.com, Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Boyamin asked the people’s representatives not to underestimate the integrity of the KPK candidates. Those who are chosen to lead are expected to be immune to temptations that can damage the institution.
“They are not susceptible to bribery, they are not susceptible to conflicts of interest. For example, asking for plane tickets, all sorts of things,” said Boyamin.
In addition, members of the DPR who test the KPK candidates are expected to balance the courage and honesty of the candidates. Those who are appointed are expected to have the courage to make policies at the stages of action and prevention.
“Second, courage and honesty are important and being able to have a balanced concept of eradicating corruption between action and prevention,” explained Boyamin.
Commission III will use a slightly different approach in fit and proper, for both capim and candidates for the KPK Supervisory Board (cadewas). Each candidate will be ‘skinned’ for 90 minutes.
“Indeed, because there are demands from fellow members of Commission III for this period, that as much as possible members be given the opportunity to speak for a long time,” said Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Habiburokhman at the Parliament Complex, Friday, November 15, 2024.
According to him, the duration is longer than before, which was only 60 minutes for each candidate. Habiburokhman said that the fit and proper test this time would likely finish at midnight.
