Indonesia-Brazil Business Forum Generates Cooperation Worth USD 2.65 Billion

FBIB successfully produced five MoUs between Indonesian and Brazilian companies with a total investment value reaching USD 2.65 billion.

The signing of the MoU took place during the G20 Summit held at the Copacabana Palace.

Also present at the event were the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, the Special Envoy of the President/Chairman of the Advisory Board of Kadin Indonesia, and the Chairman of Kadin Indonesia.

Commitment to Sustainable Development

President Prabowo emphasized the importance of a strategic partnership between Indonesia and Brazil, especially in supporting sustainable development.

“Indonesia and Brazil have abundant natural resources and rich biodiversity, providing great opportunities to collaborate .”

“This collaboration is not just about trade, but also contributes to the global development agenda,” he said, as written on Friday (22/11/2024).

The signed MoU covers various strategic sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture, technology, and trade, reflecting the commitment of both countries to promote economic growth while maintaining environmental sustainability.

Strategic Collaboration and BRICS Potential

Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo highlighted the importance of this bilateral cooperation. “Indonesia is open for business, and today we are starting a new chapter in the strategic collaboration between Indonesia and Brazil,” he stated.

Hashim also mentioned that Indonesia will soon join BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa), strengthening its global position in supporting South-South partnerships.

The Chairman of Kadin Indonesia, Anindya Bakrie, added that this cooperation demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to becoming a key player in global transformation, especially in the biofuel and agribusiness sectors.

CEO Discussion and Strengthening Business Relationships

This event also features a CEO Dialogue session, where executives from Indonesia and Brazil discuss investment and innovation opportunities. Managing Director of Royal Golden Eagle (RGE), Anderson Tanoto, shared his experiences in the biofuel sector in Brazil. While FKS Group representative, Yanuar Samron, discussed the potential adoption of Brazilian sugarcane plantation technology in Indonesia.

Economic and Trade Significance

Trade data shows the great potential of the Indonesia-Brazil bilateral relationship:

2022: Indonesia exported products worth USD 1.91 billion to Brazil.
2024: Brazil recorded exports worth USD 359 million to Indonesia, resulting in a trade surplus for Brazil
Pillar of Innovation and Sustainability Shinta Kamdani, emphasized the importance of FBIB as an example of successful international partnership.
