The supporters of the Japanese National Team set a commendable example by cleaning the GBK after watching the match against Indonesia.

The performance of the Indonesian National Team (Timnas) makes us proud, so do the actions of some Garuda squad supporters. Inspired by Japanese supporters who cleaned the GBK after watching the match, the Indonesian Timnas supporters did the same.
Recently, a video showing several supporters of the Red and White team collecting trash after watching the match against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, went viral on social media. The clip shared by the TikTok account @buburayamrenyah on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, shows several spectators busy picking up trash.
They deliberately brought large black plastic bags to store the trash in the stands. “Start the culture of cleaning up after watching at GBK. Don’t want to lose to Japan, hehe,” wrote the account.
The spectators are seing collecting trash, from drink bottles to food wrappers. They appeared to be cooperating with each other to gather the waste.
The post in question received praise from netizens. Many hope that this action will become a culture among Indonesian spectators at every match. However, there are still those who mention Bahrain coming to Indonesia next year.
“It has to keep going up so it becomes part of Indonesian culture,” commented one netizen. “Wow, this is cool, Indonesian supporters can also be extraordinary, shining my brother,” replied another netizen. “The national team learns from the Japanese team, supporters also learn from Japanese supporters… very beautiful…,” praised another.

Japanese supporters’ actions
Previously, after the match between the Indonesian National Team and Japan on Friday, November 15, 2024, the supporters of the Samurai Blue did not leave immediately. After the match, the Japanese supporters picked up the litter scattered in the spectator area of SUGBK.
From the video uploaded by the X account, formerly Twitter, @aingriwehuy, the Japanese national team supporters appeared to have already prepared light blue plastic bags. They picked up trash between the seats, most of which were drink bottles.
Not only the young supporters, but also the grandparents of the Japanese national team supporters were busy picking up trash. A pile of trash collected by the Japanese supporters was seen heaped in one corner of SUGBK.
Cleaning up trash after attending an event has indeed become a habit of the Japanese people, including when they are abroad. Netizens who saw this praised the actions of the Japanese supporters. Some highlighted the good quality of Japanese human resources, which enables them to consistently maintain cleanliness.
“The quality of their human resources is good from the start, no wonder Japanese people excel in any profession,” said one X user. “No wonder they win, they seem to excel in every aspect,” replied another.

The plastic bags brought from home are not solely intended for trash. When the match began, the blue plastic was used to signal to the Japanese players on the field that there were supporters cheering for them in the stands.
It’s not the first time and not only in Indonesia, Japanese national team supporters often engage in clean-up activities after their beloved team’s matches. Like during the Group H group stage of the 2018 World Cup at Mordovia Arena, Russia, and after the opening match of the 2022 World Cup at Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar.
In the opening match of the tournament between the host country and Ecuador, Japanese fans also wore their national attire and stayed in the stadium to pick up trash, such as bottles and food wrappers, left in the stands.
Their heroic actions were also share by the TikTok account @tootsespinosa with the caption, “BIG RESPECT TO JAPAN🙏🏼.” In the video, they were seen carrying black plastic bags and working together to pick up trash around.
