Prabowo’s Free Nutritious Meal Program Becomes a Topic of Discussion at the G20 Summit in Brazil

The G20 Presidency of Brazil is part of the G20 Presidency hold by the group of developing. It began with the Indonesian Presidency in 2022, followed by India in 2023, and now Brazil in 2024. (KTT G20).
During this visit, President Prabowo was accompanied by Airlangga Hartarto, who is responsible for the Sherpa Track in the G20. The G20 Presidency of Brazil is a continuation of the G20 Presidency hold by the G20 developing countries.

It started with Indonesia’s Presidency in 2022, followed by India’s in 2023, and now Brazil’s in 2024. The group of developing countries can maintain the dignity and relevance of the G20 as the premier global forum. South Africa will hold the G20 Presidency in 2025.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga explained that Brazil’s G20 Presidency holds a special place and significance for Indonesia. Brazil has proven that the group of developing countries (G20) is capable and credible in addressing current global issues. “We appreciate Brazil for successfully launching the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty initiative as a form of leadership in tackling global poverty and inequality,” explained Airlangga in a written statement, Thursday (21/11/2024).

“One of the strategies promoted by Indonesia in this Alliance is the homegrown school feeding programs – which align with President Prabowo’s priority programs,” he added.

The Topic in the First session

At the G20 Rio Summit, President Prabowo is deliver interventions in the First Session on the topic of Fight against Hunger and Poverty and the Third Session on the topic of Sustainable Development and Energy Transition.

At the G20 Rio Summit, President Prabowo is also hold bilateral meetings with several leaders.

As the custodian of the Sherpa Track of the G20 forum, Coordinating Minister Airlangga expressed appreciation for the involvement and support of both Government and Non-Government elements in the G20 working group and engagement group.

The success of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency serves as a strong foundation for the implementation of future Presidencies. Therefore, this coordination model to support Indonesia’s position in various other international forums.
