The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu’ti, stated that the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, will announce an increase in teacher welfare soon. Mu’ti mentioned that the salaries of honorary teachers will rise by Rp2 million, while ASN teachers will receive an increase equivalent to one basic salary.
“The improvement in teacher welfare will be announced later. Non-ASN teachers will receive an increase of IDR 2 million, and ASN teachers will receive an increase of 1 times their basic salary,” said Mu’ti after meeting Prabowo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Tuesday (26/11/2024).
He conveyed that the increase in teachers’ salaries will be announced by Prabowo at the peak of the National Teacher’s Day celebration, which will be held on November 28, 2024, at the Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta. Later, Prabowo will open and give a briefing to the teachers.
“It will be announced (the salary increase) during the peak of the National Teacher’s Day celebration,” he said.
Certification
Mu’ti explained that honorary teachers who receive a salary increase of Rp2 million are those who have certification. The additional salary of Rp2 million is outside of the salary from their original school.
“So, he already has a salary at his original school, which varies according to the school’s capability. But with the certification, he will receive the certification allowance of Rp2 million,” explained Mu’ti.
