The statement by the Secretary-General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, which mentioned an attempt to criminalize Anies Baswedan on the orders of the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), is considered an unfounded accusation.
In addition, Hasto’s claim that he was threatened with being made a suspect in an unclear case is also viewed as an inaccurate statement because it is not supported by strong evidence.
In a podcast hosted by Akbar Faisal, Hasto revealed that there is an effort to criminalize Anies being carried out under Jokowi’s orders. Hasto also added that he might be made a suspect in an unclear case.
The Secretary-General of Jokowi’s Underground Troops (Pasbata), Budianto Hadinegoro, emphasized that all these claims must be based on clear legal facts. “This is a serious accusation! Very misleading,” asserted Budianto, Monday (25/11/2024).
“We must look at the legal facts. If there are indications of criminalization, let’s investigate and ensure whether it complies with the applicable legal provisions,” he explained.
Budianto also added that Hasto’s statement, which accused of criminalization, could mislead the public.
“Such statements must be made carefully, so that the public is not influenced and misled.” “In the online world, there is a lot of information whose sources are unclear, and it can cause society to become divided,” Budianto stated.
Furthermore, Budianto believes that Hasto is trying to steer public opinion as if all these problems are the result of Jokowi’s orders.
“Don’t let there be a perception in the community that all of this is at the behest of Mr. Jokowi. The fact is, Jokowi is no longer in office as president, and this issue is still being stirred up.” So, we need to be more discerning in digesting information like this,” said Budianto.
Delivered Ahead of the Regional Election
Budianto also questioned why Hasto only made that statement just before the 2024 regional elections.
“Why is this statement being made only now?” Why not from the beginning? Is there a specific goal you want to achieve, especially in the context of the upcoming regional elections?”asked Budianto.”
“We must be vigilant against all forms of information circulating ahead of the elections, which are often politicized for certain interests,” he added.
According to Budianto, Hasto’s statement might be more influenced by personal annoyance or frustration towards Jokowi. This is because, after ending his term, Jokowi supported several regional head and deputy regional head candidates.
“There might be feelings of annoyance or hurt because Mr. Jokowi is giving his support to certain regional head candidates.” But it is the right of every citizen to support whoever they choose. Isn’t this also what other political figures do, like Mrs. Mega or Mr. Hasto?”said Budianto.
He emphasized that Jokowi is no longer the President and is just an ordinary citizen who has the right to support regional head candidates and campaign for the candidates he supports.
“That is protected by law. So, there is nothing wrong with his actions in campaigning and providing support,” said Budianto.
