Weekends or public holidays are usually moments to go on vacation. Especially for mountain climbers, tourist areas like the Gede Pangrango Mountain National Park (TNGGP) are often targeted destinations because of their proximity to Jakarta.
However, on the Pilkada (Regional Head Election) holiday, which falls on Wednesday (27/11/2024), TNGGP will be closed. This is based on information from the circular letter on the official TNGGP account on its official Instagram social media.
“Based on the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33 of 2024 regarding the Voting Day for the 2024 Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elections as a National Holiday,” wrote the account @bbtn_gn_gedepangrango, Monday, November 25, 2024.
“Therefore, it is informed to all prospective Climbers/ Tourists/ Community/ Nature Enthusiasts that climbing and nature tourism activities at TN Gunung Gede Pangrango will be temporarily closed to the public on November 27, 2024,” the account stated.
From the question-and-answer section in the comments of the post, it was informed that the closure would only be for one day during the Pilkada. Meanwhile, many climbers were disappointed because they had previously hoped for an open-close system for climbing on the Pilkada holiday, but it turned out to be closed for one day.
“Attention attention, it seems like the admin is a KPPS officer so it’s closed for now and will reopen tomorrow 😂,” wrote a netizen. “Is there any intention to hold voting on the mountain, admin? It would be more interesting and different from the rest,” another netizen suggested.
TNGGP Entrance Ticket Prices Increase
Previously, TNGGP had raised its entrance fee effective October 30, 2024. Approaching the end of 2024, several National Parks in Indonesia, including Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP), are implementing adjustments to entry fees for hikers and nature tourism enthusiasts who wish to camp.
The rates are differentiated between Indonesian Citizens (WNI) and Foreign Citizens (WNA) and will be effective from October 30, 2024. “#Sobatgepang who are so close, sorry for spilling the new PNBP rates in accordance with Government Regulation Number 36 of 2024,” wrote the official Instagram account of Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park @bbtn_gn_gedepangrango on October 31, 2024.
The increase in tariffs applies to entrance tickets for nature tourism, camping, and climbing at the Cibodas and Gunung Putri Resorts. The cost for a two-day, one-night climb totals Rp72,000, with a breakdown of Rp40,000 for the entrance ticket, Rp5,000 for camping, Rp20,000 for climbing, and Rp7,000 for insurance. Local tourists who want to camp for two days and one night on weekdays will be charged a total of Rp52,000, which includes the entrance ticket fee of Rp40,000 and the camping fee of Rp5,000.
