Former Presidents Jokowi and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) are reported to have canceled their attendance at Ridwan Kamil’s (RK) grand campaign held at Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta.
This has sparked speculation amid the lack of enthusiasm from the masses during the campaign.
Social media activist Jhon Sitorus revealed that the absence of Jokowi and SBY was due to the weak public support for Ridwan Kamil.
“Jokowi and SBY canceled their attendance at Ridwan Kamil’s grand campaign because the Banteng field was empty,” said Jhon in his statement on the X app @JhonSitorus_18 (23/11/2024).
According to Jhon, internal surveys show that the pair Pramono Anung and Rano Karno are far ahead, with an electability rate of 53 percent.
“Even the internal survey also favored Pram-Rano with 53 percent,” he added.
He also assessed that Jokowi has shifted the focus of his campaign to the Central Java region, an area that has long been the base of his political strength.
Jhon said, this shows that Jokowi’s strategy is now more focused on maintaining influence in that region.
“He’s already thrown in the towel, Jokowi is fighting tooth and nail in Central Java,” he concluded.
The sparse condition of Ridwan Kamil’s campaign in Jakarta is considered a severe blow to the coalition supporting him.
On the other hand, the electoral advantage of Pramono Anung and Rano Karno further strengthens their position in the increasingly heated political contest ahead of the 2024 Pilkada. (Muhsin/Fajar)
