President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto has been in the homeland for the past few days after a two-week overseas working visit. According to the Palace, Prabowo is confirmed to exercise his voting rights in the Simultaneous Regional Elections on November 27, 2024.
Regarding the polling location, the Palace stated that Prabowo still resides in Bojong Koneng, Bogor Regency, West Java. This means that Prabowo will be voting for the regent and deputy regent of Bogor as well as the governor and deputy governor of West Java.
“He plans to vote in Bojong Koneng, according to his ID card address,” said the Head of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi when confirmed by the media on Monday (25/11/2024).
For your information, the simultaneous regional election voting for 2024 will be held on Wednesday, November 27. It is known that that date has also been designated as a national holiday.
This is in accordance with the presidential decree (Keppres) number 33 of 2024 regarding the national holiday on the simultaneous regional election voting day on November 27. The issuance of the presidential regulation was signed by Prabowo on November 21, 2024, in Jakarta.
“The presidential decree regarding the voting day for the election of governors and deputy governors, regents and deputy regents, as well as mayors and deputy mayors in 2024 as a national holiday,” the presidential decree states, as quoted on Monday (25/11/2024).
Through that decision, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, will become a national holiday in commemoration of the 2024 Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, as well as Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elections.
“This Presidential Decree comes into effect from the date of its stipulation (November 21),” reads the closing sentence in the Presidential Decree.
National Police Chief Ensures Readiness for Simultaneous Regional Elections
Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized the readiness of the police force and all related elements in overseeing the implementation of the Simultaneous Regional Elections 2024, which will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He reviewed several important points regarding technical readiness, security, and anticipation of potential vulnerabilities in the field.
Listyo stated that the entire distribution of Pilkada logistics is ensured to be safe, including in remote, isolated, and disaster-affected areas. He also highlighted several areas with high potential for vulnerability, such as Papua and regions with single candidates or pairs of candidates.
“We have conducted intensive coordination to ensure that areas with high potential for vulnerability can be monitored and their security maintained.” “All parties must ensure that the regional elections proceed peacefully and smoothly,” said Listyo at the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta, Monday (25/11/2024).
He mentioned that the National Police are collaborating with the Indonesian National Armed Forces to optimize security, particularly to anticipate potential security disturbances such as social conflicts and natural disasters.
Patrols to Prevent Money Politics
Surveillance patrols to prevent money politics are conducted throughout the regions to counter practices that could undermine the integrity of the regional elections, such as money politics and mass mobilization.
“This patrol is important to ensure that there are no actions that violate the law or ethics in the regional elections. We want to create clean, integrity-driven, and democratic elections,” he explained.
Listyo urged the public to use their voting rights wisely and come to the Polling Stations (TPS) on election day.
