The investigators from Polda Metro Jaya have named 24 individuals as suspects in an online gambling case involving officials from the Ministry of Communication and Digital. (Komdigi). PDIP Urges the Formation of an Independent Special Committee
Chico mentioned that online gambling practices involving support from rogue officials, as revealed in the Ferdy Sambo case, are believed to have spread to various institutions, including the executive, legislative, and law enforcement bodies.
“The modus operandi that uses celebrities and the families of famous figures as ‘bargaining chips’ shows a systematic and structured working pattern of the mafia.” “This online gambling mafia is not just a legal issue, but a major threat to the integrity of the nation,” he said.
In fact, Chico mentioned that the online gambling mafia, drug trade, and illegal mining with significant capital have been indicated to be involved in presidential, legislative, and regional elections.
“Logically, the mafia is more likely to approach those in power to gain protection and access, rather than the opposition.” Therefore, we urge the establishment of an Independent Special Committee consisting of elements from society, academics, and law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the flow of illegal funds used for political purposes,” he stated.
