TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said that his side is ready to assist the government in organizing the simultaneous 2024 regional elections.
In addition, its members are also ready to assist the National Police in securing the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections to ensure they run safely, orderly, and smoothly. “To secure the Simultaneous Regional Elections, the TNI will deploy 169,369 personnel consisting of 139,339 from the Army, 19,793 from the Navy, and 10,237 from the Air Force. Additionally, TNI’s defense equipment will be prepared and provided for security and logistics distribution,” said Agus, Tuesday (26/11/2024).
In addition, Agus explained the conflict mitigation steps that can be taken to prevent and reduce the potential conflicts that may arise during the 2024 Pilkada process.
This includes strengthening law enforcement, massive political education programs, strict monitoring and supervision involving independent parties and related elements, as well as dialogue and mediation through proactive steps.
Then also through dialogue and mediation involving community leaders, political parties, and relevant authorities.
“On this occasion, I would like to convey that the TNI is ready to provide full support to the Election Organizer Institutions, in this case, the KPU, to ensure the successful implementation of the Simultaneous Regional Elections through the TNI’s readiness to maintain security stability, support logistics distribution, and uphold and maintain TNI’s neutrality,” he explained.
“These efforts are a manifestation of the TNI’s commitment to ensure that the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections can be carried out safely and smoothly,” he concluded.
