The South Jakarta District Court (PN Jaksel) rejected the pretrial motion regarding the determination submitted by former Minister of Trade, Thomas ‘Tom’ Trikasih Lembong. This means that the suspect designation against Tom is considered valid.
“Rejecting the applicant’s pretrial motion in its entirety,” said the presiding judge Tumpanuli Marbun at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (26/11).
All of Tom’s arguments in this hearing were rejected. The judge deemed that the Attorney General’s Office had followed the proper procedures in designating him as a suspect. With this ruling, Tom remains a suspect. Additionally, the judge considered Tom’s pretrial motion to have entered the merits of the case.
“Imposing no court fees on the petitioner,” said the judge.

Tom Lembong filed a pretrial motion regarding the determination of suspect status against him. The Attorney General’s Office has named Tom as a suspect in a corruption case related to sugar imports at the Ministry of Trade for the 2015-2016 period.
Previously, Tom’s camp hoped the judge would rule that the suspect designation was invalid. In addition, to issue a ruling ordering the Attorney General’s Office to stop the investigation of the case. Then, order the Attorney General’s Office to restore Tom’s dignity and honor. (Fah/I-2)
