Dozens of Female Prison Inmates in Tangerang Cast Their Votes in the 2024 Regional Election

Dozens of inmates at the Class IIA Women’s Prison exercised their voting rights in the 2024 Regional Election. The KPU provided officers, voting booths, and ballots at the prison on Wednesday (27/11/2024).

The head of TPS 902 at the Tangerang Class IIA Women’s Prison, Nuraini Prasetiawati, stated that 76 voters participated in the election starting at 07:00 WIB. This consisted of 51 Permanent Voter List (DPT) and 25 Additional Voter List (DPTb).
“Of the 51 DPT, 50 are our inmates and one is an officer. Meanwhile, for the DPTb, there are 12 officers and 13 inmates.” “We have also carried out the activities according to the guidelines from the KPU, and we started the activities at 7:15 AM,” she stated.
The inmates were very enthusiastic about exercising their right to vote. They were also previously given information about the candidates who would be elected on the day of the Tangerang Mayor and Banten Governor’s election.

“They are very enthusiastic because the activities here are the same as outside, this prison is a small miniature of the society outside. Their rights are the same as those of the society outside the prison,” he said.

Hope

It is hoped that in the 2024 regional elections, the elected leaders can bring the province of Banten and the city of Tangerang to become better.

“Hopefully, both the Governor of Banten and the Mayor of Tangerang elected in the 2024 Pilkada can lead the Province of Banten and the City of Tangerang towards a better and more advanced direction,” hoped Nuraini.
