Ahead of the 2024 Lampung Regional Election, the distribution of election logistics is still ongoing. In Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung, the distribution of logistics to Kampung Bumi Dipasena Abadi in the Rawajitu Timur District requires extra police escort.
This is because the distribution team must pass through a hazardous river route, where there are many estuarine crocodiles.
Even though they were hit by heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, it did not diminish the spirit of the joint officers to escort the election logistics to the local polling station committee (PPS).
The Tulang Bawang Police Chief, AKBP James H. Hutajulu, explained that to ensure the security of the logistics distribution, his team deployed four police officers to escort the District Election Committee team. (PPK).
“This morning, the team used a bamboo raft to escort the distribution of election logistics to Kampung Bumi Dipasena Abadi.” The process requires a journey along the swamp river for approximately two hours,” said AKBP James, Tuesday (26/11/2024).
The presence of crocodiles in the river has become a special concern.
“Besides being vigilant about the weather conditions, the team also has to be extra careful because there are many crocodiles in this river,” he said.
To anticipate bad weather that may occur, such as heavy rain, the police ensure that the logistics are wrapped in layered protective plastic to remain safe during the journey.
“The distribution of this logistics is part of the effort to ensure the smooth running of the Lampung 2024 Pilkada, even in hard-to-reach areas,” he concluded.
