Jakarta – A fire struck a densely populated residential area on Jalan Administrasi II, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta on Thursday morning (28/11/2024). As a result of this incident, 15 Heads of Families (KK) lost their homes.
The Head of the Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat) of DKI Jakarta, Satriadi Gunawan, explained that the fire was reported at 02:40 WIB. Initially, one of the residents saw flames from the second floor of one of the rooms. Quickly, the fire grew and engulfed the surrounding buildings. As for the building standing on an area of 270 square meters, it was also affected.
“The suspected cause is an electrical short circuit.” “The object that burned was a densely populated residential house,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (28/11/2024).
Satriadi said that 22 fire engine units were deployed to the location. The fire was extinguished at 05:13 WIB.
There were no casualties or injuries related to this incident. However, Satriadi explained that the losses incurred due to the fire reached hundreds of millions of rupiah.
“There were no casualties. The estimated loss is IDR 379,620,000, affecting 15 families or 80 people,” he emphasized.
Not The First Time

The fire in Tanah Abang is not the first time it has happened. Five months ago, a massive fire swept through a residential area on Jalan Kampung Bali, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta on Saturday (29/6/2024). It was reported that 10 units of houses were burned down by the fire.
The Head of the Central Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Sudin PKP), Asril Rizal, stated that the fire, reported by local residents, occurred at 12:50 PM WIB.
Asril stated that 17 fire engine units were deployed to the location to extinguish the fire.
“A resident by the name contacted the Central Jakarta Fire Department, reporting a permanent house fire on Jalan Kampung Bali 6 RT 009/008, Kampung Bali Village, Tanah Abang District, Central Jakarta.” The object that caught fire was a house,” he said in a written statement on Saturday.
Asril said that his team immediately deployed 51 firefighters to battle the blaze. The fire was finally declared extinguished at 3:06 PM WIB.
“The fire has been extinguished,” he said.
