Jakarta – The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the construction of the Sekip Ujung Flyover in Palembang City, South Sumatra. The Sekip Ujung Flyover has been operational and has helped alleviate traffic congestion caused by the convergence of traffic from Jalan Basuki Rahmad-Jalan R Sukamto and Jalan Amphibi-Jalan Angkatan 66 in the city of Palembang.
Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that the development of connectivity infrastructure is necessary to make the mobility of goods, services, and people more efficient. With smoother connectivity, it is expected to boost regional economic growth, thereby aiding the acceleration of development in the area.
“The construction of the Sekip Ujung Flyover will smoothen connectivity and traffic accessibility, in addition to providing an alternative for residents to enhance economic productivity,” said Dody, Wednesday (27/11/2024).
The Sekip Ujung Flyover has been under construction since 2022-2024 with a length of 660 meters. Consisting of 190 meters (bridge), 160 meters (ramp on the Basuki Rahmad Road side), and 310 meters (oprit sisi Jalan R.Sukamto).
Land acquisition is carried out by the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Palembang City Government. The physical construction of the flyover is carried out by the Sumatera Selatan National Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN), the Directorate General of Highways (Ditjen Bina Marga), with contractors PT Waskita Karya and PT Ricky Kencana (KSO) at a cost of approximately Rp 168.1 billion.
Foam Mortar Technology

The construction of the Sekip Ujung Flyover uses Foam Mortar technology, which can reduce the implementation time by about 50 percent compared to soil embankment. To enhance the comfort of road users, this flyover is also equipped with LED lighting with pole spacing every 40 meters from the beginning of the ramp to the end of the ramp.
The appearance of the flyover is also adorned with beautification building ornaments that highlight local art and culture. This will beautify the face of Palembang City, including the landscape in the area beneath the flyover.
“The ornaments for beautification consist of songket panels, which are traditional woven fabrics from South Sumatra. These songket fabrics will certainly enhance the appeal and demonstrate the unity and cooperation between the South Sumatra Provincial Government, the Palembang City Government, and the Central Government,” concluded Dody.
