Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he was a rebellious student when he was in school. Prabowo also thanked his teachers who continuously guided and educated him, enabling him to become the President of Indonesia.
“I stand before you as the President of the Republic of Indonesia because my teachers were good. Even though I was perhaps a somewhat rebellious student back then, because my teachers did not give up on guiding me, today I stand before the people as the President of Indonesia,” explained Prabowo while attending the National Teacher’s Day commemoration at the Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Thursday (28/11/2024).
According to him, the country can prosper and advance if its education system is successful. Prabowo stated that teachers are the backbone of the nation because the success of education is in their hands.
“On behalf of the entire government and the Indonesian nation, I am here to express my gratitude to the teachers. There will be no successful nation without teachers,” he said.
Prabowo stated that he would eliminate poverty in Indonesia through education. Therefore, Prabowo made education the main focus of his administration for the next five years.
“When I received the mandate from the people, my focus and that of my team, which eventually became the cabinet I lead, was primarily on education,” said Prabowo.
He made the education sector the top priority in the allocation of the 2025 state budget. However, Prabowo said, several countries chose to allocate a significant portion of their national budget to the defense sector.
“Without hesitation, I believe for the first time in Indonesia’s history, the allocation for education in the 2025 state budget is the highest in the history of the Republic of Indonesia,” explained Prabowo.
