National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo assured that the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections across Indonesia will be conducted safely, peacefully, and in a conducive manner. He urged all parties to continue prioritizing unity and solidarity.
“From the results of joint monitoring through security posts, the situation is generally still relatively safe and under control,” said the Chief of Police in his statement, Thursday (28/11/2024).
Listyo emphasized the importance of maintaining the spirit of togetherness and tolerance during the election process. The call to create a peaceful atmosphere is the top priority to maintain national unity.
“Our task is to ensure that the regional elections run smoothly, safely, and peacefully. National unity and integrity must always be a priority.” “We hope that all stages of the regional elections can be well-received by all parties,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Chief of Police also urged the public to continue maintaining harmony amidst differing political views. He also called on stakeholders to support the creation of a conducive atmosphere during the democratic process.
“We all certainly hope that through prayer and good cooperation, this regional election will bring the best results for the nation,” Listyo emphasized.
Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that there are several regions prone to disturbances during the vote counting process of the 2024 regional elections or afterward.
He conveyed this after conducting a monitoring of the simultaneous regional election security along with Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.
“Then we remain vigilant, post the counting results later, especially in areas that we have been monitoring due to their high vulnerability at several points,” said the National Police Chief at the Subden Mabes TNI, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (27/11/2024).
The National Police have mapped several areas prone to disturbances during the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. These areas particularly include regions with only two pairs of candidates.
“Several points have been released by Baintelkam as well as by Bawaslu, and some additional ones with two pairs of candidates,” Sigit said.
