Jakarta President Prabowo Subianto stated that the government will provide educational assistance to teachers to continue their education to the D4/S1 level.
According to him, there are currently 249,623 teachers who do not yet have a D4/S1 education.
For that reason, Prabowo said, educational assistance to teachers will be provided gradually. The plan is for this program to be implemented starting in 2025.
“Currently, there are still 249,623 teachers who do not have a D4/S1 education. Gradually starting in 2025, these teachers will be given educational assistance to continue their studies to the D4 and S1 levels,” said Prabowo while attending the National Teacher’s Day Commemoration at Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Thursday (28/11/2024).
In addition, the government also plans to improve the welfare of non-ASN or honorary teachers who have not yet received certification through cash transfer assistance. The amount and number of beneficiaries will be announced in 2025.
“Currently, the Central Statistics Agency is calculating and searching by name and exact address who is entitled to receive that benefit,” he said.
Prabowo is also committed to improving quality and equitable education services in Indonesia.
He allocated funds amounting to Rp17.15 trillion in 2025 for the rehabilitation, repair, and renovation of 10,440 public and private schools.
“This fund will be sent directly to the schools, cash transfer,” said Prabowo.
