Dinas Perkebunan Kaltim Successfully Achieves National Geographical Indication Award

Jakarta – The East Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Office (Disbun Kaltim) achieved an impressive accomplishment at the Closing of the 2024 Thematic Year of Geographical Indications. Disbun Kaltim received an award in the category of Mapping Potential, Assistance, Coaching, and Supervision of Geographical Indications. (IG).

The success of Disbun Kaltim demonstrates the commitment of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in supporting the development of locally competitive products in both national and international markets.

This prestigious award was presented directly by the Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas, to the Head of the East Kalimantan Plantation Office, Ence Achmad Rafiddin Rizal, as a form of appreciation for the efforts in the Development and Supervision of Geographical Indications (IG) held at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta on Monday (2/12/2024).

The East Kalimantan Provincial Plantation Office (Disbun Kaltim) received the National Geographical Indication (IGN) award for 2024.
On the same occasion, the Geographical Indication (IG) Certificate for Tuana Tuha Palm Sugar from Kutai Kartanegara was handed over by the Director General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.

Rizal conveyed that the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, through the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), has designated 2024 as the Thematic Year of Geographical Indications with the theme “Love and Pride for Indonesian Geographical Indication Products.”

The Plantation Office of East Kalimantan Province (Disbun Kaltim) won the National Geographic Indication Award (IGN) 2024.
Until now, East Kalimantan has several superior products registered as Geographical Indications, including the Geographical Indication (GI) Certificate for Malonan Kutai Kartanegara White Pepper, registered with the Directorate General of Trademarks and Geographical Indications of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia on November 30, 2018, with Number IG.00.2018.000020, owned by the Geographical Indication Protection Society (MPIG) of Malonan Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan Province, Jl. Soekarno-Hatta Km 19, RT. 005, Dusun Tani Maju, Desa Batuah, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province.

Then the Geographical Indication (GI) Certificate for Berau Cocoa, registered with the Directorate General of Trademarks and Geographical Indications of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia on September 17, 2021, with the number IDG000000102, owned by the Geographical Indication Protection Society (MPIG) for Berau Cocoa, located at Jl. Raja Alam 2, Sinar Mas Campus Complex, Sei Bedungun Village, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province. This is the only Geographical Indication (GI) for cocoa in Indonesia, found only in East Kalimantan.

The Plantation Agency of East Kalimantan Province (Disbun Kaltim) won the National Geographical Indication (IGN) award 2024.
And the Geographical Indication (GI) Certificate for Aren Sugar Tuana Tuha Kutai Kartanegara, registered with the Directorate General of Trademarks and Geographical Indications of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia on August 16, 2024, with ID Number IDG000000163, owned by the Geographical Indication Protection Society (MPIG) Aren Sugar Tuana Tuha, Kampung Nelayan, Kukar District, Address: Jl. Sultan Guna Diwangso RT 09, Tuana Tuha Village, Kutai Kartanegara District, East Kalimantan Province.

In addition to East Kalimantan, several other provinces also received recognition in the 2024 National Geographical Indication Awards, including East Nusa Tenggara, Bengkulu, and Bali.
