KPK Arrests 1 More Person Related to the OTT of the Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru, Bringing the Total to 9 Detained

Jakarta – The Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru, Risnandar Mahiwa (RM), was caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) related to an alleged corruption case involving fictitious procurement within the Pekanbaru City Government.

Risnandar was arrested along with eight other people. Subsequently, the KPK arrested one more person in connection with the same case.

“Eight from Pekanbaru, plus one detained in Jakarta. So, a total of 9 people have been detained,” said KPK spokesperson, Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto, in her text message on Tuesday (3/12/2024).

The nine individuals have been taken to the KPK Red and White Building. Based on observations, Risnandar arrived at the KPK Red and White Building escorted by investigators in a black Toyota car around 5:38 PM WIB.

Risnandar Mahiwa, wearing a blue checkered sweater, was seen covering his face with a mask and wearing a black hat.

Meanwhile, another person wearing a gray jacket and carrying a bag. It is known that the person is the Secretary of the Pekanbaru City.

When entering the lobby of the KPK building, the acting Mayor of Pekanbaru did not say a word. He simply walked past towards the KPK investigator’s room.

Previously reported, the KPK arrested officials within the Pekanbaru City Government, and KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron confirmed this.

“Yes, the KPK has conducted a sting operation against state officials in the Pekanbaru area, Riau,” said Nurul Ghufron when confirmed.

However, Ghufron has not yet been able to detail who was involved in the KPK sting operation. A thorough investigation will be conducted first.

“The KPK team is still conducting the examination process for 1×24 hours,” said Ghufron.

They also requested patience regarding the complete information about the implementation of the OTT. “Please be patient for now, once it is finished we will convey it to the public,” he concluded.
