Jakarta, President Prabowo Subianto will soon establish a task force, or the Downstream Task Force, to oversee the processing of raw materials domestically. RI 1 then appointed the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, as the Chairman of the Downstream Task Force.
This was conveyed by Bahlil Lahadalia during the Indonesia Mining Summit 2024 event at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, on Wednesday (12/4/2024).
“Yesterday, in a meeting, the President decided to form a task force. And coincidentally, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources was appointed as the head of the task force,” said Bahlil Lahadalia.
Bahlil said that the Downstream Task Force was formed to continue the roadmap that was drawn up to attract investment for 28 commodities. The total investment value is around USD 615 billion from all sectors, including mining and minerals.
“However, 91 percent of it is in the ESDM sector, so the downstream task force was created to expedite the issuance of permits,” Bahlil added.
Besides the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Downstream Task Force will also involve stakeholders from other sectors, such as fisheries, agriculture, forestry, and industry.
“This task force involves technical ministries. Later, the Minister of Investment, Minister of Forestry, Minister of Fisheries, then the Minister of Agriculture, and Minister of Industry will be involved. They will all join in,” he stated.
He targets that this Downstream Task Force will be formed soon. Its approval is still awaiting direct instructions from Prabowo in the form of a presidential decree. (Kepres).
“Because yesterday in the meeting with Mr. President Prabowo, it was just decided and will be followed up with a presidential decree. The decree is currently in process. We are waiting for technical instructions from Mr. President Prabowo,” concluded Bahlil.
