Chronology of the Disappearance of a Minahasa Utara Fisherman While Fishing in Bitung Waters

Bitung – The Manado SAR team continues to search for a fisherman named Simon Nontah (56) who is suspected to have fallen from a boat while fishing in the waters south of Lembeh Island, Bitung City, North Sulawesi. The incident occurred on November 29, 2024, and until now, the victim has not been found.

“The chronology of the incident, on November 28, 2024, around 23:00 Wita, the victim from Watudambo Village, Kauditan District, North Minahasa Regency, went out to sea to fish,” said SAR Manado spokesperson Nuriadin Gumeleng on Wednesday (12/4/2024).

Next, on November 29, 2024, at 05:00 Wita, other fishermen found the victim’s boat empty, while the boat’s engine was still running. The fishermen, along with the village head, immediately secured the victim’s boat to Tasik Koki beach.

At 12:05 Wita, the head of the local community reported the incident to the Manado SAR Office to request assistance in the search for the victim.

After receiving the report, the rescue team from the Manado SAR Office and the Bitung SAR Alert Unit departed for the incident location to conduct a search operation.

“Until now, the SAR team is still conducting the search, but the results have been nil. The search continues with the hope of finding the missing victim in the waters,” said Nuriadin Gumeleng.
