Jakarta-Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman, also known as Miftah, announced his resignation from his position as the President’s Special Envoy for Religious Harmony and Religious Facility Development.
Regarding this matter, Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ahmad Sahroni, stated that from this case, Miftah should always remember and respect fellow human beings, regardless of profession or background.
“Certainly, his words deeply hurt many people and are very inappropriate to be expressed by or to anyone.” Especially since Miftah is a figure who serves as a role model for his followers. “If he can do that, and there is a defense that his statement was just a joke, there is a concern that this will normalize hateful speech that insults others,” said Sahroni in his statement, Friday (6/12/2024).
“That’s why the social sanctions that have emerged are good to prevent it from happening again in the future,” he continued.
This NasDem politician also responded to Miftah’s decision to step down from his position as the President’s Special Envoy. Sahroni believes that the decision is the right step.
“I see that Miftah’s decision to resign from his position as the President’s Special Envoy is the right one.” Mr. Prabowo’s administration has just begun, so let’s not let it be marred by turmoil that wounds the conscience. “So his resignation is very good,” he explained.
Sahroni also reminded everyone, whether they are officials, entrepreneurs, or the general public, to always show empathy towards others.
“We are all brothers, of one nation and one homeland, seeking sustenance on the same land.” Never look down on our brothers, that is forbidden. “All halal jobs are noble,” he concluded.
