Jakarta – Volunteers from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Alumni, who are part of the ‘Alumni ITB Menyala’ community, held a celebration at the Gelora Bung Karno Complex, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/12).
This event was held after the results of the tiered real vote count from the C1 form data of the KPU from 44 sub-districts in DKI showed a victory of 50.07% for the Governor and Deputy Governor candidates number 3, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno.
As is known, Mas Pram is an alumnus of the Mining Engineering Department at ITB, class of 1982. During his studies in Bandung, Mas Pram was active in the student movement and once served as the chairman of the ITB student executive body, equivalent to the Student Senate/Council. As an alumnus, Mas Pram continues to maintain a very harmonious relationship with the entire academic community.
“The ITB alumni will certainly support Mas Pram’s leadership with all the knowledge and skills we possess so that Jakarta can truly become a vibrant, advanced, and just global city, in line with Mas Pram’s vision and mission,” said Tito Kurniadi, coordinator of Alumni ITB Menyala.
The thanksgiving event attended by hundreds of ITB alumni was relaxed and full of joy, filled with prayers, reflective speeches, and singing together.
Alumni ITB Menyala is one of the civil society groups actively campaigning for the Mas Pram and Bang Doel pair in the Jakarta 2024 gubernatorial election.
Support
Initial support was rolled out by accompanying Mas Pram to register as a candidate for Governor of Jakarta on August 28, 2024, at the Jakarta KPUD, followed by consolidation and work planning culminating in the Declaration of ITB Alumni Menyala on October 8, 2024.
ITB alumni proactively engage in various volunteer activities that directly interact with the community and the Gen Z community, culminating in the Jaga Kotak Suara movement to assist election organizers in maintaining a conducive situation in the sub-districts where ballot boxes are collected and stored before the vote recapitulation process at the sub-district level.
