Ariza Patria Surprised by Low Voter Participation in the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, Brings Up the Anies-Sandi Era

Jakarta – The Chairman of the Winning Team for Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO), Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza), responded to the vote recapitulation results of the Jakarta 2024 Gubernatorial Election. He considers the low voter turnout as one of the issues affecting the recapitulation results.

“Seeing that the 2024 Pilkada in Jakarta, in particular, has a quite crucial problem, namely the very low voter participation in the history of the Pilkada in DKI Jakarta,” said Ariza Patria to reporters in Jakarta, quoted on Monday (9/12/2024).

Riza said that voter participation in the Jakarta 2024 Pilkada was no more than 53 percent. This Gerindra Party politician recalled the Jakarta 2017 Pilkada, which was won by Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno with a high level of voter participation.

“On average, it was no more than 53 percent, while the national average was 68 percent. Meanwhile, back in the days of Mr. Anies-Sandi, even with two consecutive days of rain, participation was very high,” explained Ariza.

Then Ariza questioned the reason why many Jakarta residents chose not to participate in the Jakarta 2024 gubernatorial election. However, he said, there were no significant obstacles during the voting on November 27, 2024, in Jakarta.

“Why was the recent regional election on November 27, 2024, last Wednesday, held under clear weather with no significant issues, yet participation was very low?” It didn’t rain, there were no significant issues, but participation was very low,” he said.

He believes that the issue of low voter participation needs further investigation. According to Ariza, the low voter turnout in the Jakarta 2024 regional election is partly due to many people not receiving their voting invitations or C6 forms.

“This is what has led us, from the RIDO couple’s side, to file a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court regarding several issues, whether this was intentional or unintentional, the public will know in due time,” said Riza Patria.
