Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto stated that self-sufficiency in food and energy is the key to controlling inflation in Indonesia’s future. He also requested that self-sufficiency in food be implemented down to the district and sub-district levels, in accordance with the nation’s local wisdom.
“Food self-sufficiency, energy self-sufficiency, the key to controlling inflation, breakthroughs like this are also something very beneficial,” said Prabowo during the 2024 Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at Sasana Bhakti Praja, Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (9/12/2024).
“The key once again is self-sufficiency. Self-sufficiency in food in a broad and comprehensive sense.” Since ancient times, we have been taught that every village must have a food granary, every village. “So this is our grand strategy,” he continued.
He praised the inflation control mechanism implemented by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This mechanism, carried out from the central to the regional level, can reduce the inflation rate in Indonesia.
“I ask that this mechanism be continued, Minister of Home Affairs, please carry this on.” I would also like to thank all parties, across ministries at the central level and also at the regional level. My thanks, my appreciation, I believe this will someday become a case study, many countries will learn from us,” he explained.
Prabowo appreciated the achievement of national inflation being successfully kept below 3 percent despite global uncertainty. He said this was an accomplishment worth being grateful for.
“But overall, actually our inflation in the current condition, I think we should be quite grateful, below 3 percent inflation, I think that is already an achievement,” said Prabowo.
