Seven Consecutive Years, Banyuwangi Wins the Title of Innovative District

Banyuwangi – Banyuwangi Regency has once again been designated as the Most Innovative Regency at the Indonesia Government Award (IGA) event, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs. (Kemendagri). With this achievement, Banyuwangi has become the Most Innovative Regency for seven consecutive years.

The award was presented at the IGA 2024 Award Ceremony, which was opened by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Ribka Haluk, in Surabaya, Thursday (5/12/2024). The award was presented by the Head of the Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BKSDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Yusharto Huntoyungo, to the Regent of Banyuwangi, Ipuk Fiestiandani. In the event, Banyuwangi achieved the highest score among districts and cities in the Java Island region.

“Alhamdulillah, Banyuwangi’s commitment to implementing various innovations to advance the region has received appreciation. Various innovation programs will continue to be pushed as the locomotive for regional development in the future,” said Ipuk, Friday (6/12/2024).

Ipuk stated that the culture of innovation continues to be encouraged because so far, innovation has proven to be the key for Banyuwangi in achieving progress, improving the quality of public services, and creating adaptive and sustainable solutions in governance and development.

At least 220 innovations have been implemented in Banyuwangi, one of which is the “Kanggo Riko” program, an innovation aimed at improving the economy of residents, which has become one of the focal points for this year’s IGA Award assessment. Kanggo Riko is an economic empowerment program for poor households (RTM) where program recipients receive Rp2.5 million to meet their business needs. Kanggo Riko has been beneficial to 6,898 families. This year, it is targeted that 1,890 residents will benefit from Kanggo Riko.

Per Capita Income Continues to Increase

Due to various innovations implemented, continued Ipuk, Banyuwangi has consistently managed to maintain progress in various development sectors. Among them, per capita income continues to increase, from Rp. 53.87 million in 2022 to Rp. 58.08 million in 2023. The regional GDP also rose from Rp. 93.28 trillion in 2022 to Rp. 101.29 trillion in 2023. Meanwhile, the poverty rate decreased from 7.34 percent in 2022 to 6.54 percent in 2023.

“These various positive achievements are the result of joint efforts, synergy, and collaboration among all development stakeholders and the people of Banyuwangi,” concluded Ipuk.
