Kejari Sambas Spreads the Anti-Corruption Spirit in the Indonesia-Malaysia Border Region

Jakarta – The Sambas District Attorney’s Office (Kejari) held the commemoration of the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day (Harkordia) in Sajingan Besar District, an Indonesia-Malaysia border area, on Monday (12/9/2024). This event serves as an important moment to raise public awareness about the dangers of corruption, while also reaffirming the commitment to combating corruption crimes.

The Head of the Sambas District Attorney’s Office, Daniel De Rozari, explained that Sajingan was chosen because the location is strategic and serves as a border entry point. Not only that, Sajingan also serves as a symbol that the eradication of corruption is not only a concern in the center but also in the outermost regions of Indonesia.

“We want to show that the eradication of corruption is a shared task, regardless of geographical location.” Sajingan, as a border area, has a strategic role in monitoring and preventing potential cross-border corruption, therefore, it is important for the community in border areas to participate in oversight,” he said.

The theme raised at Harkordia 2024 is “Together Against Corruption for a Progressive Indonesia.” They hope that this activity can be a catalyst for change in building a strong anti-corruption culture, especially in the Indonesia-Malaysia border region.

The commemoration of Harkordia 2024 is filled with various activities, such as Socialization and Anti-Corruption Declaration. For the socialization, the Sambas Prosecutor’s Office provides counseling to the community and students regarding the dangers of corruption and the importance of transparency in daily life.

Then, for the Anti-Corruption Declaration, they conducted a joint commitment signing against corruption by local officials and community leaders. In addition, the Sambas District Attorney’s Office also expressed appreciation to village heads and the community who were proactive in reporting suspected corruption.

“This event received a positive response from the local community. They even stated that this activity provides education for the younger generation, to understand the importance of integrity and to reject all forms of corruption,” he concluded.
