Medan – The North Sumatra General Election Commission (KPU Sumut) has declared the Candidate Pair (Paslon) for Governor and Deputy Governor Number 1, Bobby Nasution-Surya, as the winners of the North Sumatra 2024 Regional Election.
The announcement was read by the Chairman of the North Sumatra General Election Commission (KPU Sumut), Agus Arifin, during the plenary meeting for the vote tallying recap that took place from Sunday, December 8, 2024, to Monday, December 9, 2024.
“Establishing the results of the 2024 North Sumatra Governor and Deputy Governor Election based on the results of the plenary meeting of the vote tally recap as stated in the model D form of the KWK results as outlined in the Decision Appendix, which is an integral part of this Decision,” said Agus Arifin during the plenary meeting.
It was revealed that the KPU recorded in the 2024 North Sumatra Regional Election, Bobby-Surya received 3,645,611 votes. Meanwhile, the Candidate Pair Number 02, Edy Rahmayadi-Hasan Basri Sagala, received 2,009,311 votes.
“Bobby-Surya excelled in 30 districts/cities in North Sumatra, while Edy-Hasan excelled in 3 districts/cities,” Agus explained.
Establish the Winner of the North Sumatra Regional Election
Regarding this matter, Agus Arifin continued, “Establishing the results of the 2024 North Sumatra Governor and Deputy Governor Election with the vote count, Candidate Pair Number 01 named Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution and Surya, with a valid vote count of 3,645,611 votes,” he stated.
“Meanwhile, the Candidate Pair Number 02 named Edy Rahmayadi and Hasan Basri Sagala received 2,009,311 valid votes,” he continued.
After the recapitulation, the North Sumatra KPU will wait to see if there are any lawsuits filed by one of the candidate pairs. The North Sumatra KPU will wait 3 days for the submission of lawsuits from the candidate pairs.
“Those who wish to file a lawsuit, the KPU will wait three times 24 hours from the time this decision is read,” he said.
Refusal to Sign
Regarding the results of the 2024 North Sumatra Regional Election, the witness team from the Candidate Pair for Governor and Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Number 02, Edy Rahmayadi-Hasan Basri Sagala, refused to sign the vote recapitulation minutes.
“We do not define the Medan Pilkada as a democratic festivity, because during the election we saw people suffering due to floods. They could not vote because of that,” said Edy-Hasan witness, Leo Marbun.
They are also concerned about the large number of invalid ballots in the 2024 North Sumatra Pilkada. This has become the basis for their refusal to sign the plenary meeting results. They are also preparing a lawsuit regarding the Pilkada process in North Sumatra.
Leo stated that, according to them, the regional elections in North Sumatra involve many elements of local officials. First, because many regional heads favor one of the candidate pairs, and this is certainly a form of abuse of power.
“There is also, at the Raja Tengah polling station, Kuala District, Langkat Regency, the number of voters is almost 100 percent with no voters, and the additional signatures are almost identical.” We request that the C results be reviewed to prove their validity,” he stated.
