Jakarta PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has prepared 4 functional toll road segments, also known as free tolls, on the Trans Sumatera Toll Road (JTTS), to support smooth traffic during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2024/2025 period.
The President Director of Hutama Karya, Budi Harto, stated that the toll roads that will be operational during the Christmas and New Year period include the Sigli-Banda Aceh Section 1 (Padang Tiji-Seulimeum) spanning 24.67 km. Secondly, the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road, partially Section 2 Kuala Tanjung-Indrapura, which stretches 10.15 km.
“The functional operation of these four toll road sections is planned to start from December 21, 2024, to January 2, 2025, in coordination with the Traffic Directorate regarding the operational hours of these functional sections,” said Budi, Wednesday (12/11/2024).
Operational Feasibility Test

Furthermore, he added, the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road Section Tanjung Pura-Pangkalan Brandan has undergone a functional and operational feasibility test at the end of November 2024.
With the new calculation indicator scheme in the ULFO Hutama Karya plenary meeting, the section obtained simulation results following the ULFJ recommendations with a star rating of 5 stars.
Budi believes that with the functionality of these sections, it will significantly reduce travel time. Whereas the Pekanbaru-Padang toll road, section Padang-Sicincin, will be the first toll road in West Sumatra that will cut travel time by about 30 minutes, which previously took more than 1 hour.
“Meanwhile, the travel time from Binjai to Brandan is reduced to only 40 minutes, whereas it previously took 2 hours. The time is cut because of the operational Trans Sumatera Toll Road Binjai-Langsa Section Tanjung Pura-Brandan.” The connectivity of this toll road will also facilitate connectivity for tourists coming from Kualanamu Medan Airport who are heading to Brandan and Langsa,” he explained.
