Surabaya, Flood disasters have struck several areas in Mojokerto Regency, Mojokerto City, and Jombang Regency, East Java, due to heavy rain that has occurred in the past few days.
Puddles of varying heights have flooded residents’ homes, disrupted road access, and affected community activities.
Based on data from the East Java BPBD, in Mojokerto Regency, the worst flooding occurred in Sooko District. Tempuran Village was one of the affected areas, where Tempuran and Bekucuk Hamlets experienced waterlogging with heights of 45 centimeters (cm) to 65 cm on the roads and 65 cm to 95 cm inside the houses.
The same thing happened in Ngingasrembyong Village. In Pendowo Hamlet, water has submerged around 70 houses inhabited by 280 people, with puddles reaching heights of 25 to 55 cm on the roads and 15 to 35 cm inside the houses. A similar situation is experienced in Sanggrahan and Sidonganti Hamlets, where the water inside the houses reaches 50 cm.
Then in the city of Mojokerto, the Prajuritkulon sub-district was significantly affected by the flood. In the Cakarayam Baru area, Metikan Village, the water level reached 40 cm inside the houses, while the streets were submerged up to 15 cm.
Worse conditions occurred in the Jayeng area, Prajuritkulon Village, where road access was submerged up to 80 cm, hindering residents’ activities. Pulorejo and Blooto Villages also faced similar conditions, with water pooling evenly in homes and streets.
Meanwhile, in Jombang Regency, Kesamben District has become one of the most severely affected areas. Dusun Beluk, Desa Jombok, experienced flooding up to 150 cm that submerged the roads, while the water inside the houses reached a height of up to 125 cm. A similar condition was experienced in Dusun Kodondong, Desa Blimbing.

In the Peterongan District, Wonokerto Selatan Hamlet, Peterongan Village, the water level reached 10 cm, while in the Jogoroto District, Corogo Hamlet, Janti Village, the water level reached 5 cm.
The Head of the East Java BPBD, Gatot Soebroto, immediately went to the location and deployed the Quick Reaction Team (TRC) to the disaster sites in Mojokerto City, Mojokerto Regency, and Jombang.
In these three areas, the TRC BPBD Jatim, along with volunteers, assisted in the evacuation process of residents, especially toddlers and the elderly, to evacuation shelters. The same goes for valuable items and pets.
Gatot directly inspected the flood location, specifically in Ngingasrembyong Village, Sooko District, Mojokerto Regency. Together with several Heads of OPD from the East Java Provincial Government, he sought solutions for the accelerated handling.
“Together with the Mojokerto Regency Government and the local government, we are also continuing to expedite flood management so that it recedes quickly,” said Gatot.
Based on data from Pusdalops BPBD Jatim, as of Wednesday (11/12), the number of people in Mojokerto Regency affected by the flood and currently in evacuation centers is 107 individuals, specifically at Masjid Noor Al Islam, Tempuran Village, Sooko District.
