Jakarta, — Myanmar national team coach Myo Hlaing Win remained pleased with his team’s performance despite being defeated by the Indonesian national team, which was bolstered by many young players, in the AFF Cup 2024 match at Thuwunna Stadium, Yangon, on Monday (9/12).
The Indonesian national team, mostly reinforced by U-22 players, successfully defeated Myanmar on their home ground. This success is quite impressive because Myanmar fielded its best team in the AFF Cup 2024.
Despite losing to Indonesia’s young team, Myo Hlaing Win remains satisfied with the performance of the Myanmar national team. The 51-year-old coach believes that the Myanmar national team was simply unlucky against Indonesia.

“I am happy with the way the team played.” We played it the way we wanted. Many opportunities were created in the first half, but we couldn’t convert them into a goal,” said Myo Hlaing Win after the match.
The Myanmar national team actually did not play poorly. The team nicknamed Chinthe had several golden opportunities in the first half, but failed to convert them into goals.
“It’s a pity we didn’t get the goals we deserved. In football, if a team doesn’t score the goals they should have, that team will lose,” said Myo Hlaing Win.
The Myanmar national team had three on-target chances against Indonesia. Meanwhile, Indonesia had four on-target shots, one of which was converted into a winning goal by Asnawi Mangkualam in the 76th minute.

“I want to thank all the players in this team for their effort and hard work on the field,” said Indonesia’s coach Shin Tae Yong after the match.
The victory over Myanmar placed the Indonesian National Team in second place in the Group B standings of the 2024 AFF Cup, trailing Vietnam on goal difference, who won 4-1 against Laos.
Next, Indonesia will face Laos at Manahan Stadium, Solo, on Thursday (12/12).
