There is a Free Nutritious Meal Program, Banking Sector Intensifies Distribution of KUR in the Food Sector

Jakarta – Bank Mandiri continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening national food security through the distribution of People’s Business Credit (KUR) to strategic sectors, particularly food. This step also serves as a form of support for the government’s efforts to create a resilient people’s economy, as well as to support the Free Nutritious Meal Program and maintain food security for the Indonesian people.

The President Director of Bank Mandiri, Darmawan Junaidi, explained that in an effort to support food security, Bank Mandiri has utilized the distribution of KUR to empower entrepreneurs in the food sector, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from upstream to downstream. Especially MSME actors in the fields of food production and distribution such as agriculture, fisheries, and trade.

“By providing access to capital through KUR, Bank Mandiri helps increase the production capacity of entrepreneurs in the agriculture, fisheries, and food processing sectors, which then contributes to the supply of nutritious food to the community,” said Darmawan in his official statement on Wednesday (12/11/2024).

The bank with the golden ribbon logo stated that this step is a form of contribution from Bank Mandiri as an agent of change and value creator focused on the people’s economy. As a result, by the end of November 2024, Bank Mandiri successfully realized the distribution of KUR amounting to Rp 37.48 trillion to more than 351 thousand MSME actors throughout Indonesia.

This achievement nearly reached the maximum ceiling set by the government of Rp 37.5 trillion and, as of December 2024, has been fully disbursed. If detailed from the total, the agricultural sector as the main pillar of the food supply chain received a significant allocation of Rp 11.06 trillion or 29.53% of the total KUR distribution.

“Our focus is to ensure that business operators in the food sector receive optimal financial access to enhance their productivity. This aligns with Bank Mandiri’s mission to contribute to national food security,” he added.
