Jakarta – Senior Golkar Party politician, Agung Laksono, is still reluctant to back down from Jusuf Kalla (JK) regarding the position of chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross. (PMI). According to Agung, JK has already served three consecutive terms as the chairman of PMI, so he should not run again.
“Yes, in my opinion, it would be better, since Mr. JK has already served 3 terms, why go for a 4th,” said Agung when met after attending the 60th anniversary of the Golkar Party at SICC Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Thursday (12/12/2024).
Therefore, the former chairman of the Golkar Party considers it very reasonable to request a change in leadership within the PMI. “I think it’s reasonable to have a change,” said Agung Laksono.
On the other hand, he fully leaves it to the government whether to accept the results of the rival national congress that appointed him as the chairman of PMI or the national congress that elected JK as the chairman.
“I leave it to the government.” Because our obligation is already fulfilled. So, the extraordinary congress must first report the entire process of events, the entire schedule, and whether the household affairs are in order or not, as it will be evaluated by the government. “I am confident it will be resolved quickly,” he concluded.
Tensions within the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) have escalated following the 22nd National Conference (Munas) organized by two different factions.
Agung Laksono, who claims to be the candidate for the chairman of PMI, has reported the results of his version of the national congress to the Ministry of Law for ratification.
On the other hand, Jusuf Kalla, who was re-elected by acclamation, considers Agung Laksono’s actions as illegal.
Agung Laksono Vs JK Conflict in PMI Is Not Worthy of Imitation

The Deputy Chairman of the Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, spoke about the tension within the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) between Agung Laksono and Jusuf Kalla. Idrus said that the two former chairmen of the Golkar Party did not set a good example.
“If there are such things, it is a dynamic situation, but our note as the next generation is to set a good example for this generation, set a good example,” said Idrus at the SICC, Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Thursday (12/12/2024).
“Well, is that a good example?” “In our opinion, that is not a good example, one that we should not follow,” said Idrus.
According to Idrus, what happened between Jusuf Kalla and Agung Laksono does not reflect the values of the Golkar Party. Ideally, fellow party cadres should not resort to legal action against each other.
“It should be that if fellow Golkar Party cadres, from the beginning, talk well, it shouldn’t happen like that. Especially if it leads to legal actions,” said Idrus.
“Once again, such methods do not reflect the values of the Golkar Party and should not be emulated by the future generations of the Golkar Party,” Idrus emphasized.
