Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of Golkar, Idrus Marham, spoke about the cancellation of the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono candidate pair’s lawsuit to the Constitutional Court regarding the results of the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. According to him, this is a political reality that must be accepted.
“This is a political reality that we must accept,” said Idrus when met at the SICC, Sentul, Bogor, West Java, Thursday (12/2/2024).
Idrus stated that accepting this political reality is also in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to build Indonesia based on togetherness.
“But accepting it is still based on Golkar’s principles and Prabowo’s guidance, which is to build our Indonesia based on the principles of nationalism, kinship, and togetherness,” he said.
Idrus emphasized that, because of adherence to the principles of a legal state, the Golkar Party will follow and must not take unconstitutional steps. “The Golkar Party, which from the beginning has stated that we adhere to the principles, our country is a legal state, we must not take steps that violate the law,” he said.
“We will follow the law even though, in practical political terms, it might be detrimental to us,” said Idrus.
He also talked about the determination of the palon format in Jakarta. He said that Golkar indeed conceded in several matters for the interests of the Coalition for an Advanced Indonesia. (KIM).
“In the interest of various matters, there will definitely be a tug-of-war over interests, and the Golkar Party has, in some cases, yielded for the interests of KIM, including DKI Jakarta, for example,” he said.
