Anies is Considered a Potential New Figure for PDIP After Jokowi is Dismissed

Jakarta The Pramono Anung-Rano Karno (Si Doel) pair won a round in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. This victory was confirmed after the other candidates did not contest the results of the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election in the Constitutional Court (MK).

Pramono Anung-Rano Karno are confirmed to become the elected governor and deputy governor of Jakarta for the 2024-2029 term.

Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion, Dedi Kurnia Syah, emphasized the role of former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan in the victory achieved by Pramono-Rano in the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.

According to Dedi, Anies will gain a new political stage from Pramono-Rano as well as from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Anies is also seen as a potential new figure in the PDIP after the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), was expelled from membership.

“Anies’ role in the victory of Pramono-Rano is indeed present, and Anies has the potential to become a new figure in the escalation of PDIP’s politics after Jokowi is no longer in PDIP,” said Dedi to Liputan6.com, Monday (12/16/2024).

Not only that, Anies’ chances of entering the presidential candidate race for the 2029 presidential election are considered quite strong. Therefore, in order to prepare for the 2029 presidential election, Anies is said to need to maintain his prominence.

“The chance for Anies to enter the presidential candidate race in 2029 could strengthen again.” Especially if Anies manages to maintain his prominence over the next 5 years,” said Dedi.

Dedi stated that, in a situation like this, politically, President Prabowo Subianto is not too worried about the rising chances of Anies’ popularity. According to Dedi, the concern actually comes from Jokowi. Because, his son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, will be threatened in his popularity in the 2029 presidential election when facing Anies.

“Actually, that concern might be with Jokowi.” Because if Anies successfully forms a new friendship with PDIP, and the opportunity to participate in the 2029 presidential election opens up again, Gibran might not be ready to face it alone,” explained Dedi.

Therefore, Dedi stated that Prabowo’s role in this matter is still very much needed. Prabowo is required to be able to balance the political contestation in the homeland for the next five years.
