Jakarta – The police are still investigating the online gambling case involving an official from the Ministry of Communication and Information. Now, the investigation process has expanded to include allegations of corruption.
Regarding this matter, Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi was summoned as a witness. The examination was conducted at the Bareskrim Mabes Polri on Thursday (19/12/2024).
The Director of the Special Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Ade Safri Simanjuntak, confirmed the summons of Budi Arie Setiadi.
“He was questioned in the capacity of a witness,” said Ade Safri Simanjuntak to reporters.
Ade Safri said that Budi Arie’s examination is related to the alleged corruption being handled by the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya team.
“The investigators from the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya are conducting an investigation into the online gambling case, while the investigators from the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya are investigating the alleged corruption crime that occurred,” he said.
Ade Ary has not yet been willing to disclose the details regarding the matter. “It will be conveyed by the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya later,” he concluded.

“The eradication of online gambling is our collective duty as fellow citizens.” Therefore, consistency and steadfastness are needed to eradicate online gambling, especially in protecting the community,” said Budi Arie at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Thursday (12/19/2024).
The former Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) was reluctant to comment on the questions posed by the investigators during the examination. He fully handed over the content of his statement to the police.
“As a law-abiding citizen, I am obligated to assist the police in eradicating online gambling cases in the Komdigi area,” he explained.
