Reading the Plea, Defendant Reza Explains the First Meeting with Harvey Moeis

Jakarta The defendant in the tin corruption case, Reza Andriansyah, revealed that he did not have the authority to make various decisions within the company without the approval of the President Director, Suparta. He emphasized that his position in PT. Refined Bangka Tin (RBT) is only as the Business Development Director.

“Although my position has the title of director, my name is not in the company deed.” “The position of director referred to in my title is within the company’s organizational structure and not in the company’s organs as defined in the Limited Liability Company Law,” said Reza while reading his plea at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (12/18/2024).

Reza proved his statement with a Decree (SK) from the President Director of PT Refined Bangka Tin No. 032/SK-HR/RBT/II/2017 dated February 24, 2017. Therefore, it is not valid to associate him as someone who has a role as an administrator.

“That my duties as the Director of Business Development are to develop long-term businesses using new business opportunities, which will subsequently be reported to Mr. Suparta,” Reza stated.

Reza then recounted the beginning of his involvement in the tin corruption scandal. He again mentioned that everything was under the orders of Suparta, his superior.

“Suparta, the President Director, discussed technical issues related to the cooperation in renting processing pelogaman equipment.” Initially, the goal of getting involved was to help PT Timah Tbk in accordance with the applicable regulations and not to cause losses to PT Timah,” revealed Reza.

He emphasized that if the initial intention is to cause losses and take unilateral advantage, then he will definitely reject it.

“I was ordered by Mr. Suparta to attend a meeting in Sofia to meet Harvey Moeis in mid-2018 or before the agreement was made.” At the meeting, Mochtar Riza Pahlevi Tabran, the President Director of PT Timah Tbk, and Alwin Albar (former Director of Operations and Production of PT Timah Tbk) were present, and they were introduced by Harvey Moeis as the Director of Business Development of PT RBT,” Reza recounted.

After attending a meeting in Sofia in mid-2018 with Harvey Moeis, he ensured there was no further relationship. However, after that, at the instruction of RBT’s CEO Suparta, he was asked to meet again with Harvey Moeis to discuss the certification and specifications of PT RBT.

“Therefore, it can be assured that all my actions, including attending or representing PT Refined Bangka Tin at meetings, are direct instructions and orders from the leadership (Suparta),” he emphasized.
