Pamekasan – Major General TNI Dr. Farid Makruf, M.A has been appointed as the Board of Trustees for the Madura Tourism Association or Asprim. The appointment was based on several reasons, one of which is that this two-star general of the Indonesian Army is a native son of Madura. The Secretary General of Asprim, Ach Choirul Ramadani, said that what Major General Farid Makruf has achieved is an inspiration for tourism actors in Madura to remain optimistic and confident in advancing local tourism.
“His extraordinary life story serves as our motivation that as managers of the tourism sector in Madura, we can also continue to develop and be on par with other regions, so that in the future we can provide welfare impacts for the residents and tourism actors involved,” said Choirul in Pamekasan, Sunday (15/12/2024).
Farid’s appointment as the Board of Trustees of ASPRIUM was made while he was watching a cow racing match at the Sape Kerap Field in Murtajih Village, Pademawu District, Pamekasan Regency. Watching the cultural attraction directly is often done by this Expert Staff in the Natural Resource Wealth Field of Lemhanas RI to fill his spare time.
“His love is a form of concern in the effort to preserve the Madura Bull Racing Cultural Tradition, so it is hoped that this cultural tradition will eventually collaborate in its utilization with the plan for the development and advancement of Madura Tourism,” added Choirul.
In addition, the prominence of Major General Farid Makrud is also an important reason why he was appointed as a member of the Asprim Board of Trustees. Choirul said that he has an outstanding track record with a series of achievements that are expected to be passed on to all the administrators and members of the organization. “Of course, the hope is that the achievement of these remarkable accomplishments can be passed on to us so that we can provide support to the tourism actors in Madura to continue creating and have a spirit of concern in the development and advancement of Madura’s tourism,” he emphasized.
Major General Farid welcomed the appointment. For him, any positive steps taken by the nation’s children to support the progress of the nation and state deserve support, especially when it relates to the culture and tourism of Madura. “The children of the nation are the future assets of the nation and the state.” The positive intentions of my friends at Asprim, I see as part of the energy of synergy and collaboration. Of course, I fully support the positive activities carried out by Asprim, and with great pride, I am ready to become part of the Asprim Big Family,” he asserted.
Strategic Culture
Farid stated that he loves Indonesian culture very much, and not only that, he even takes the time to study the culture of the place where he is, especially when on duty. He even instructed his subordinates to love the culture of the place where he was stationed.
“I instill this in my subordinates, so they love the local culture.” “Because when I studied in England, I learned about strategic culture that was conducted by Jack Snyder in the 1950s,” said Farid, who recently received the cum laude predicate at his doctoral defense at Tadulako University, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, with the theme “Analysis of the Tadulakoan Cultural System in the Perspective of National Resilience.”
He continued, “Strategic culture was applied during World War II and the Cold War.” In other words, studying a nation’s culture means also studying its identity traits and strengths, so that opponents can understand the weaknesses and strengths of that nation. Therefore, I strongly agree with instilling in TNI members in every region to love the local culture, so that our culture is always preserved and sustained.
Along with the momentum of the 79th TNI AD Day, he stated that advancing Indonesia needs to be done together, from various elements and layers of society, including in the tourism sector.
“Thank you for the trust, friends from Asprim, and as part of the TNI, whatever it is for the sake of Indonesia, I am ready to provide support,” he stated.
Major General Farid Makrud advised Asprim to continue developing the positive culture and traditions of Madura and to make consolidated and solid efforts to eliminate traditions that tarnish Madura’s image, such as the carok culture.
“Of course, in this joint journey, Asprim must be able to revive positive cultures and traditions in Madura as an inherent part of developing and advancing tourism and disappearing.”
