Prabowo Criticizes the World at the D-8 Summit: Human Rights Are Not for Muslims, This Is Very Sad

Jakarta President Prabowo Subianto criticized the international community for not respecting the voices of Muslim countries. In fact, Prabowo said, the saddest thing is that human rights issues often do not apply to Muslims.

“Human rights are not for Muslims.” This is the reality, very sad. “Let’s do what we can, but let’s also face reality and be honest with ourselves,” said Prabowo Subianto in his speech at the special session of the 11th Developing Eight (D-8) Summit at the New Administrative Capital Presidential Palace, Cairo, Egypt, as quoted from the press release, Friday (20/12/2024).

In this meeting, the former commander of Kopassus also highlighted the weak solidarity among Muslim countries on several issues, such as peace and humanity. Prabowo questioned the support given by Muslim countries to Palestine and Syria.

“We must see the reality of this situation.” “We always express support for Palestine, Syria, but what kind of support?” said Prabowo.

The former Minister of Defense said that in several meetings, a number of countries issued statements of support and provided humanitarian aid to other countries. However, he believes that this is not matched by concrete steps to create change.

“When our brothers and sisters are in trouble, we offer statements of support and send humanitarian aid.” Sorry, this is my opinion, but let’s look at the reality. We must work together, align our voices, and not be divided,” Prabowo emphasized.

He also criticized the divide et impera strategy (politics of divide and rule) that still weakens solidarity among Muslim countries. He mentioned internal conflicts in several Muslim countries as a real example of internal conflicts among themselves.

“When will this end?” How can we help Palestine if we are hostile towards each other? Let’s be honest with our people,” said Prabowo.
