In the final match of Group B of the 2024 AFF Cup held at Manahan Stadium, Solo, on Saturday (22-12-2024) evening WIB, the Indonesian national team had to accept a 0-1 defeat against the Philippines.
Since the 42nd minute, the Indonesian national team was forced to play with ten players after Muhammad Ferarri received a red card from the Japanese referee, Koji Takasaki. The player, who is also the captain of the Indonesian National Team, was sent off the field for elbowing the captain of the Philippine team, Amani Aguinaldo.
The Philippines managed to take advantage of their numerical superiority by scoring a goal against the Indonesian National Team in the 63rd minute through a penalty executed by Bjorn Martin Kristensen.
Achmad Maulana Syarif Expresses an Apology
After the match ended, Achmad Maulana stated that the result of the match did not meet the expectations of the supporters. The player from Arema FC felt disappointed with the failure that occurred.
