Questioning Yasonna’s Travel Ban Related to Harun Masiku, PDIP: His Involvement is Unclear

Jakarta The DPP PDI Perjuangan questioned the decision of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to prevent PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) and PDIP DPP Chairman Yasonna H Laolly (YHL) from traveling abroad. PDIP Spokesperson Chico Hakim stated that they have not yet received clarity on the case involving Yasonna.

“We deeply regret this (travel ban) because there is no clarity, and Mr. Yasonna’s involvement cannot be explained in relation to this ongoing case,” said Chico to reporters on Thursday (12/26/2024).

Nevertheless, Chico emphasized that PDIP will respect all legal processes that Yasonna or PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto are undergoing.

“However, we emphasize that PDIP and all its cadres certainly respect the ongoing legal process,” he said.

However, he reminded the KPK not to politicize cases or act unprofessionally.

“But with the note and reminding the KPK to act professionally in conducting this legal process amidst strong public suspicion of the ongoing politicization,” concluded Chico.

Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prevented the Secretary-General (Sekjen) of PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto (HK), and the Chairman of the PDIP DPP, Yasonna Hamonangan Laolly (YHL), from traveling abroad.

Based on the gathered information, the prevention against both of them was issued based on decree number 1757 of 2024 in the case of corruption in the Replacement of Members of the House of Representatives (PAW) period 2019-2020.

Valid for the next 6 months

The prevention of Yasonna is stated in decision letter number 1757 of 2024, which was issued as part of the investigation into the bribery case of the DPR RI PAW. Besides Yasonna, PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto was also barred from leaving the country after being named a suspect in the same case.

Currently, the KPK is still delving into the case that has been ongoing since 2020 and is trying to track down Harun Masiku’s whereabouts.

“The travel ban is necessary as part of the investigation process into the alleged corruption crime as mentioned,” said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto in her statement, Wednesday (25/12/2024).

The travel ban, KPK believes that Yasona is currently still in the country and it is the authority of the investigators to facilitate the investigation of a case that has been ongoing for four years.

Yasona is prohibited starting from December 24, 2024. “Effective for the next six months,” explained Tessa.
