KPK Smells Corruption in Dedy Mandarsyah’s Assets

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has completed its investigation into the asset ownership of the Head of the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) of West Kalimantan, Dedy Mandarsyah. Several of his assets were found to be unreported.

“Some assets were not reported, so we will proceed with an investigation,” said KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Pahala Nainggolan in a written statement on Friday (27/12).

Pahala has not been able to specify the exact time for Dedy’s summons. However, he assured that the clarification would not take place this week. “Next year, then,” said Pahala.

Previously, the KPK was investigating Dedy’s wealth. He was highlighted by netizens after his name was linked as the father of a student named Lady Aurelia Pramesti, who was involved in the assault case of a clinical student from Sriwijaya University (Unsri) named Luthfi.

Based on the wealth report submitted to the KPK on December 31, 2023, Dedy is recorded to have a wealth of Rp9.4 billion. Dedy reported ownership of land and building assets worth Rp750 million in South Jakarta. Dedy also reported the ownership of a 2019 Honda CRV worth Rp450 million, stating it was a gift.

Dedy is recorded to have other movable assets worth Rp830 million; securities worth Rp670,700,000; cash and cash equivalents amounting to Rp6,725,751,869, and no debts.

Dedy experienced an increase in wealth of around Rp500 million from the previous year’s report. On December 30, 2022, Dedy was recorded to have a net worth of Rp8,915,130,867.

This is not the first time the KPK has investigated the wealth of officials following a viral assault case on social media. Previously, the KPK had checked the wealth of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) official at the Ministry of Finance, Rafael Alun Trisambodo, following the assault committed by Rafael Alun’s son, Mario Dandy Satrio, against David Ozora. Rafael Alun was then proven to have received gratification while serving as a tax examiner at the Directorate General of Taxes. (Can/I-2)
