JakartaPSSI officially dismissed Shin Tae-yong from the position of head coach of the Indonesian national team. The major decision was officially announced by PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir in a press conference at Menara Danareksa, Central Jakarta, on Monday (6/1/2025) morning WIB.

Chairman of the MPR RI Ahmad Muzani responded to STY’s removal from his position as the coach of the Indonesian National Team, which was just announced by PSSI.

“Shin Tae-yong has contributed greatly, making us the champions of Southeast Asia and turning us into a country that is taken into account in the world of football.” But everything, in the end, must come to an end. “And that’s something natural,” said Ahmad Muzani to reporters on Monday (6/1/2025).

According to him, STY indeed has contributed to the Indonesian nation, especially in the domestic football scene. Nevertheless, Muzani respects the PSSI’s decision to dismiss Shin Tae-yong.

“No matter how great a person is, there must be an end.” And it is the authority of the PSSI Chairman to end it promptly, when the time comes, and thereafter it is the authority of Mr. Erick as the PSSI Chairman,” he explained.

Muzani also thanked Shin Tae-yong for his dedication during his time as the coach of the Indonesian National Team.

“But the fact that STY has contributed significantly to our football world, yes.” We must appreciate that. And we must respect him as someone who has contributed significantly to our football world,” he explained.

“He is a person of great merit, giving beautiful memories to our football world.” That is Shin Tae-yong. “We are grateful to Shin Tae-yong,” Muzani emphasized.

Sack Shin Tae-yong, PSSI Must Pay This Severance Amount

Shin Tae-yong was fired after the Garuda squad suffered disappointing results in the 2024 AFF Cup. Bringing mostly U-22 players, the Indonesian national team only made it to the group stage.

PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir also believes that this decision was made solely for the good of the national team. They also expressed gratitude for Shin Tae-yong’s performance and admitted to having already secured the name of the new coach, who will be officially introduced on January 12, 2025.

“Of course, we thank Coach Shin Tae-yong for his performance so far, our relationship is very good.” We will do our best for the desired programs. “But of course, the dynamics of the national team also need to be given special attention by us in the evaluation,” said Erick Thohir at a press conference at Menara Danareksa, Monday (6/1/2025) morning WIB.

“We have already found the candidate (to replace STY), later we will invite all the media for the next press conference on January 12 at around 4 PM.” So later, if any media colleagues want to have a Q&A with the coach, just go ahead,” he concluded.
