DKI Provincial Government: Free Meals Not for Teachers or Local Residents

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government emphasized that the Free Nutritious Meal (MGB) program is not deviating from its purpose, as it continues to target school students and is ensured not to be distributed to teachers or residents around the school.

“The target recipients of the MBG are students who are in school,” said Acting Head of the Education Office (Disdik) of DKI Jakarta Province Sarjoko when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The MBG program, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, was officially implemented on Monday (6/1) in schools and posyandus in 26 provinces in Indonesia, including DKI Jakarta.

There are around 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or MBG Kitchens operating to provide nutritious food for school children and pregnant women.

In Jakarta, the implementation of MBG in Jakarta reached a total of 12,054 beneficiary students. These students receive food supplies from four MBG kitchens, namely SPPG Halim, which provides meals for eight schools (with a total of 2,953 beneficiaries).

Next, SPPG Ciracas prepared MBG for nine schools (3,055 students), then SPPG Palmerah prepared MBG for 11 schools (2,987 students), while SPPG Pulogebang prepared MBG for 13 schools (3,059 students).

Sarjoko mentioned that there will be 13 more SPPGs operated to distribute nutritious food for the MBG program, bringing the total to 17 SPPGs.

The other 13 SPPGs operate at different times, but in January, among them are SPPG Kemang 1 (starting January 9) and SPPG Yayasan Mora Perkasa, Pulo Gadung (starting January 9).

Then, SPPG Buaran (starting January 13), SPPG Jakut (starting January 13), SPPG Yayasan Assalam Cilacap, Ciracas (starting January 13), SPPG Yayasan Hasanah Rohman Rohim, Cipayung (starting January 13), SPPG Yayasan Hasanah Rohman Rohim, Pulo Gadung (starting January 13), SPPG Yayasan Masjid Miftahussalam RIFTAH Kebon Jeruk (starting January 13), SPPG Sagolicious, Gading Kirana, Kelapa Gading (starting January 13).

Then, SPPG 1 Warakas (starting January 20), SPPG Yayasan Tunas Cendekia Sejahtera, Tebet (starting January 20), and SPPG Kepulauan Seribu Utara (starting January 30).

Sarjoko said that for students, the MBG program aims to support optimal growth and development, enhance learning concentration, and promote their health at various educational levels. This program not only provides food but also pays attention to the quality and diversity of the menu, and promotes the culture of ‘Finish Your Meal Portion’.

“We are coordinating intensively with all SPPG, which are the extensions of the National Nutrition Agency, to ensure the smooth implementation of MBG in Jakarta,” said Sarjoko.
