Solo – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi), also responded regarding the status of the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, who was dismissed by PSSI. The two-term President of Indonesia admitted that he is closely acquainted with the South Korean coach.
Jokowi said that Shin Tae-yong’s coaching career with the Indonesian National Team has lasted for four years. However, the decision from PSSI caused the former coach of the South Korean national team to end his duties in assisting the Garuda squad.
“I think PSSI (dismissed Shin Tae-yong) has gone through thorough considerations, maybe it has been evaluated every year.” “I think the most important thing is that the next coach can be better than Coach Shin,” said Jokowi at his private residence on Tuesday (January 7, 2025).
The 7th President of Indonesia, Jokowi, admitted to being closely acquainted with the coach from the land of ginseng. Especially when he was still serving as president, he often met with coach Shin Tae-yong on several occasions, getting to know his personality.
“I am close to Coach Shin, I think his personality is open and easy to interact with,” he said.
