Floods Hit Majalengka Regency

Flood disasters occurred in several areas in Leuweunghapit Village, Ligung District, Majalengka Regency. The flood was caused by rain that poured down from Monday afternoon (6/1) until night.

Around 00:45 WIB, the flood began to inundate residents’ homes. “The flood submerged residents’ houses,” said Wawan Suryawan, First Expert Disaster Management Officer in the Emergency and Logistics Sector of the Majalengka District BPBD, on Tuesday (7/1).

The BPBD of Majalengka Regency is still conducting an assessment of the flood impact that occurred in Leuweunghapit Village. “We are still conducting an assessment of the impact of this flood.” Until now, the flood is still inundating several houses in Leuweunghapit Village,” he explained.

Even though the water is still flooding the houses, no residents have evacuated. “They chose to stay in their respective homes,” he explained.

Floodwaters submerged residents’ homes to a height of 20 cm to 30 cm. Majalengka District BPBD personnel are still on standby in Leuweunghapit Village to assist residents affected by the flood.

“We are still on standby in Leuweunghapit Village to assist the community, and it is not yet possible to estimate when the flood will start to recede,” said Wawan.

Besides residential areas, the flood in Leuweunghapit Village also inundated rice fields. However, the total area of the affected agricultural land is not yet known.
