Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto requested that lands seized by the state be used to build housing for low-income communities (MBR). For example, lands resulting from corruption, BLBI assets, and expired Land Use Rights (HGU).
“Regarding the land, we received very clear instructions that the existing lands, for example, from the Attorney General’s Office, from lands seized due to corruption, then also from BLBI, and also from those whose HGU has not been extended, and various other types, will go to the Director General of State Assets, then to the Land Bank,” said the Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP) Maruarar Sirait to reporters after meeting Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday (7/1).
“Then it will be further processed on how we will create a legal scheme, one that has legal certainty, and also one that is just,” Maruarar continued.
Maruarar continued, stating that the government has built 40 thousand affordable houses for the people by October 2024.
The construction of these houses will continue until it reaches President Prabowo Subianto’s target of 3 million.
“So we report that as of now, there are around 40 thousand houses that we have built as of October 20.” And that number will continue to increase,” he explained.
For Low-Income Communities
Maruarar conveyed that the house is intended for low-income communities, specifically those earning around Rp8 million or less. He explained that the housing financing is for people who do not have a monthly salary, such as traders.
“Like the meatball seller, the vegetable seller, and so on, they don’t have a salary, but they have a business activity, we create a scheme, a method, so that the people can also own a house with that income.” Yes, through methods of supervising, accompanying, observing their selling places, and so on,” said Maruarar.
