Malang – The East Java Regional Police Traffic Directorate (Dirlantas), Kombes Pol Komarudin, revealed that they deployed a team of experts to examine the brake condition of the Sakindra Trans tourist bus, DK 7942 GB, which was involved in a fatal accident on Imam Bonjol Street, Batu City, on Wednesday, December 8, at 7:15 PM WIB.
“Throughout our monitoring, no traces or brake marks were found from the point where the bus entered this stretch of road,” said Kombes Komarudin to journalists in Surabaya, Thursday (9/1/2025).
Kombes Komarudin said that his team is conducting an in-depth investigation into the accident.
“Until now, six four-wheeled vehicles and ten two-wheeled vehicles have been recorded as involved.” In total, there are 14 victims, four dead, one seriously injured, and nine with minor injuries,” he said.
All the injured victims are currently being treated at two hospitals in Batu City, namely RS Karsa Husada and RS Hasta Bhrata.

The police continue to monitor the condition of the victims and conduct field investigations to uncover the exact cause of the accident.
“Imam Bonjol Street is a main road that is quite busy, both by locals and tourists.”However, we need a more intensive investigation,” said Kombes Komarudin.
Kombes Komarudin mentioned that Jalan Imam Bonjol in Kota Batu has a slope of about 5-7 degrees, which is steep enough for vehicles that lose brake control.
This condition, continued Kombes Komarudin, is estimated to be a factor causing the fatality of the accident, considering the number of vehicles on that route.
“We will still be asking for a statement from the victim who is being treated at the hospital,” said Kombes Komarudin.
Separately, Batu Police Chief, AKBP Andy Yudha Pranata, stated that the bus was carrying 39 students from SMK TI Bali Global and three teachers after a visit to the Museum Angkut.
There are three main accident locations, said AKBP Andy, namely the Sultan Agung intersection, in front of Lippo Plaza Batu, and Jalan Pattimura.
“Initially, the driver tried to steer the bus onto the sidewalk, hoping to brake, but failed.”Then an accident occurred at several points,” he said.
